Visit Vancouver WA Seeks Video Creators

We are excited to announce the launch of the Visit Vancouver WA Content Creator Program, an initiative to collaborate with talented local creators to highlight the best of Vancouver, Clark County, and SW Washington. Selected creators will work closely with our team to produce engaging, high-quality video content that showcases the experiences, events, and unique attractions in Vancouver.

Program Details

  • Number of Creators: 2 content creators will be selected.

  • Compensation: Each creator will receive $500 per video for a total of 1 video per month for 6 months. 

  • Spending Reimbursement: Up to $50 per video, unless otherwise requested, will be available to cover expenses related to content creation (e.g., travel, admission fees, meals, etc.).

  • Duration: The program will run on a 6-month basis, starting in January 2025.

  • Commitment: Creators are expected to produce 1 video per month for 6 months (approximately one video per month).

Content Focus Areas

Selected creators will focus on producing videos that highlight:

  • Local events and seasonal festivals

  • Outdoor recreation: Local and Regional (hiking, fall foliage, nature walks, etc.)

  • Vancouver’s food scene (restaurants, breweries, wineries, etc.)

  • Historical and cultural attractions (Fort Vancouver, Clark County Historical Museum, etc.)

  • Family-friendly activities and recreational opportunities

Each video should authentically capture the vibe and charm of Vancouver, connecting with both locals and visitors.

Key Dates

  • Application Period: November 8, 2024 - November 29, 2024

  • Program Kickoff Meeting: December 11, 2024

A brainstorming session to discuss creative ideas, program expectations, and content strategy for the first quarter of 2025

  • First Videos Due: January 2025 (specific deadlines will be provided during the kickoff meeting)

Application Process

Interested creators must submit:

  • Portfolio: 2-3 examples of previous video work (preferably in the travel, lifestyle, or destination marketing space).

  • Short Personal Statement: Why do you want to create content for Visit Vancouver WA? What perspective do you bring that will resonate with the Vancouver community and visitors?

  • Proposed Content Ideas: Share 2-3 video concepts that align with Vancouver’s tourism themes and seasonal opportunities.

Eligibility

  • Creators must be based in the Vancouver-Portland metro area.

  • Experience in basic videography and editing is required.

  • Familiarity with Vancouver, WA, and the surrounding area is preferred.

  • Creators should be comfortable working within brand guidelines and delivering professional-quality content.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Creativity and originality of past work.

  • Technical skill and quality of previous video projects.

  • Relevance to Visit Vancouver WA’s tourism and brand goals.

  • Storytelling: The ability to connect with diverse audiences and highlight Vancouver in engaging ways.

Selected creators will be notified by December 5, 2024, and invited to the kickoff meeting on December 11, 2024.

Partnership Guidelines

  • All videos will be featured across Visit Vancouver WA’s digital platforms, including social media, website, email campaigns, and more.

  •  Content should align with provided branding guidelines, including logos and hashtags.

  • Videos will be posted from the Visit Vancouver WA page as a collaboration post with the creator. 

  • All creators are considered independent contractors, and Visit Vancouver WA will own the content created under the contract.

Creator Responsibilities for Videos

Video Production Requirements

  • Develop six short-form videos, releasing one each month over six months.

  • Each video will be 30 to 60 seconds long.

Content Planning

Participate in monthly virtual meetings to propose fresh content ideas or discuss assigned topics that align with content goals.

Topics will fall under core themes:

  • Local History & City

  • Waterfront & Local Outdoors

  • Regional Outdoors

  • Food & Drink

  • Beer & Wine

  • Art & Entertainment

  • Seasonal & Holiday Events

  • Pet & Family Activities

  • Shopping

Assignment Completion and Format

  • Submit completed video projects in the specified format, adhering to deadlines.

Engagement Collaboration

  • Work with staff to maximize audience engagement with your content.

Adhering to Production and Submission Standards

Video Production:

  • Edit all video content independently, including voiceover and music, ensuring each piece is fully prepared for upload. All music used must have commercial licensing.

  • Note that video editing must occur in an external application (e.g., CapCut or Premiere Pro) rather than in TikTok.

Submission and Review Process

  • Submit monthly videos by the agreed date each month.

  • A shared Dropbox folder will be provided for file delivery.

  • Accompany each video with a “social copy” document containing proposed captions and relevant tags for TikTok and Instagram.

  • Please notify us via email once the videos have been uploaded.

  • Videos may be subject to a round of revisions based on Visit Vancouver WA’s feedback.

Posting, Sharing, and Ownership

  • All videos will be owned by Visit Vancouver WA, and distributed solely through its channels, with an invitation to collaborate on posts. If collaboration is not available on TikTok, Visit Vancouver WA will credit by tagging the creator.
