From big-name competitions like the Washougal National | Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at the scenic and nationally renowned Washougal MX Park, to favorites like the Lacamas Lake Half Marathon and 5k Run & Walk, the region is a hotspot for outdoor recreation and sports events.

For thrill seekers and endurance enthusiasts, a trek to the Spartan Race: PacWest Spartan Sprint on Aug. 2 all but guarantees mud and mayhem. A Pacific Northwest tradition, the race presents a challenging, obstacle-covered sprint across more than 3 miles and 15 obstacles that is not for the faint of heart.

Wrapping up a summer packed with sports events, the SUP Salmon Classic will make its debut Aug. 31 at Cottonwood Beach. The stand up paddleboard race includes an eight-mile course for professional level racers, a four-mile course for recreational boarders, and a two-mile course for youth and novice.
