Join Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they embark on an unforgettable journey through the Land of Snow and into the Kingdom of Sweets. This beautifully staged production features leaping ballerinas and high flying acrobatics that will undoubtedly make audience members feel the holiday magic.
Sydney Reznicki, an advanced dancer at DanceWorks, will dance the part of the Sugarplum. Other featured soloists include Julia Costigan, Hayden Ring, Alia Romano & Avery Stinchfield as Clara.
This is the ninth year of “The Nutcracker” presented by Friends of Danceworks, the nonprofit arm of DanceWorks & Vancouver City Ballet. DanceWorks is an East Vancouver dance studio that teaches numerous styles for all ages, and Vancouver City Ballet is its affiliated pre professional classical ballet program.
Proceeds will go to Friends of DanceWorks, a non-profit that provides scholarships for local dancers. Over the course of its nine years, more than $60,000 has been awarded in dance scholarships to local dancers.
Choreographers are studio Director Karen Cannon and instructors Julia Ostrovskaia, Alyssa Hofmann, Maddie Bandit & Jazy LiDrazzah.
Cannon is celebrating her 30th season as owner/artistic director of DanceWorks in Vancouver, Washington. Born and educated in England, she spent 10 years touring the world as a professional dancer and choreographer before founding DanceWorks in 1993.
