What is Juneteenth all about? The best way to understand it is to attend the Freedom Celebration, but here is a little history. Juneteenth is a significant holiday for African Americans. More than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed by President Lincoln, Union soldiers were able to bring the news to the last enslaved African Americans that they were free.
Although this is a new Federal and State holiday, African Americans across the country have commemorated that first spontaneous June 19, 1865, celebration ever since. This special party is for ALL Americans as we celebrate America’s commitment to liberty and justice. We are delighted to share our party with you!
This event is organized by Odyssey World International Education Services with support from a variety of community sponsors.
