An anticipated 1,000 runners to gather at Pearson Air Museum for
Thanksgiving weekend runs
VANCOUVER, Wash., - Southwest Washington and Portland-area residents who want to burn
off a few of those extra calories from their Thanksgiving Day dinners will have the perfect
opportunity at the second-annual Hot Buttered Run scheduled for Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Pearson Air Museum, located at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, will be the start and
finish of three races this year: a 12K run, a 5K run/walk and the new 1K Kids' Kandy Kane Race

?The Vancouver area is becoming well-known as a favorite venue for runs of all kinds and for
all abilities,? said Kim Bennett, president and CEO of Vancouver USA Regional Tourism Office.
?Vancouver and Clark County now host more than 15 running events, many of which have
become annual traditions for their participants.

are expecting the same number, if not more, this year. The 12K run will start at Pearson Air
Museum and wind its way through Fort Vancouver Historic Site, along the Columbia River,
through downtown Vancouver, past scenic Officers Row and back to the Air Museum.
Following the run, participants can enjoy lots of tasty food along with Hot Buttered Rums (for
adults over 21) and hot chocolate as well as a Christmas carol sing-along.
Registration for the races will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 27. The 12K
run will begin 9:40 a.m., the 5K run/walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the 1K Kids' Kandy Kane
Race will begin at approximately 11:40 a.m.  An awards ceremony will be held at noon.
The Hot Buttered Run events are a part of the 16th Annual Vancouver Rotary Festival of
Trees, a three-day event that includes:
Community Tree Lighting at Esther Short Park, on the evening of Friday, Nov. 25.
Vancouver Pops Holiday Concert at the Hilton Hotel, also on the evening of Friday Nov.
25.Viewing of decorated Christmas trees and wreaths at the Festival of Trees throughout
