VANCOUVER USA MARATHON, SUMMER BREWFEST, ACTIVE EXPO
HIGHLIGHT FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND IN VANCOUVER USA
Downtown hosts weekend events for sports enthusiasts

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Between 2,500 to 3,000 participants will lace up their running shoes for the annual Vancouver USA Marathon starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, June 16; part of a packed three-day weekend at Esther Short Park. The festival includes a two-day Active Expo, Half Marathon, Freedom 5K, Kids Marathon and three-day Summer Brewfest.

"This is one the most scenic courses around with our national park, beautiful green trails and the mighty Columbia River," said Brian Davis, race director at Energy Events. "It truly is the hidden gem of the Northwest!"

The Marathon is a USA Track and Field Certified Course and Boston Marathon Qualifier. Competitors in the Marathon have seven hours to complete the course that showcases the community, historic sites and Columbia River.

New this year, the Summer Brewfest will feature 20 breweries and 40 beers on tap. In addition, the Marathon's Active Expo will include athletic vendors with great shopping and updated product education. In conjunction with the activities, the festival will include live entertainment throughout the weekend, with a main stage set up at the park.

"The Vancouver USA Marathon is a great annual event in our region," said Ashley Shimer, sports sales manager at the Vancouver USA Regional Sports Commission. "In its third year, we are excited to accommodate participants as they explore downtown and enjoy the beauty of our area while running the course."
