High school students from around the state will compete for awards and scholarships
What: The 2012 State Sports Medicine Competition/Symposium, presented by the 
Washington Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association (WCTSMA), will take 
place at the Hilton Vancouver this weekend. The Vancouver USA Regional Tourism 
Office assisted in booking the conference that will bring 600 students pursuing a 
career in sports medicine, 50 instructors and over 100 volunteers to town for the two day event.
Students will participate in written testing, oral practical skills testing, 
anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, interviewing, and CPR Skills and will also 
take part in a student forum.
The keynote speaker will be former professional baseball player Bengie Molina and 
various sports medicine professionals will also speak throughout the weekend.
Five scholarships totaling $2,000 will be awarded to students at the conclusion of the 
conference and the top eight sports medicine teams and three individuals will be 
recognized as well.
When: Friday April 27 - Saturday April 28
