2013 NORTHWEST PLUS AMERICA PAGEANT TO
GRACE VANCOUVER USA
Official state preliminary for national Miss Plus America Pageant

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Plus-sized women, ranging from teens to marital statuses, will compete in Vancouver USA over Presidents Day weekend for entry to the national Miss Plus America Pageant. Embracing beauty and potential for full-figured women, the competition will be held February 15-17, 2013. Vancouver was selected as the second-year host destination because of its total package of proximity to Seattle and Portland; a variety of hotels and unique flexible meeting and entertainment venues; and its convenient accessibility to shopping and services.

"We are thrilled to welcome the 2013 Northwest Plus America Pageant to Vancouver," said Rosemary Cooke, director of sales at the Vancouver USA Regional Tourism Office. "Vancouver's selection of event venues and central position in the Northwest provides an ideal location for weekend-long events like this."

The event will include a Red Carpet Fashion Show on Friday, Feb. 15, benefiting Go Red for Washington at Big Al's Vancouver; and a Pink PJ Party on Saturday, Feb.16, at the Marriott SpringHill Suites. The Union High School Theater in Camas will host the talent competition at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, and Northwest Plus America Pageant at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17.

"I'm excited to be able to offer and provide a pageant that provides opportunities for women and teens that emphasizes confidence building, community service, and a realistic body image," said Latasha Raines, executive director of the Northwest Plus America Pageant.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are available online for all events and can be purchased at the door for the talent competition and pageant.
